In memory of Claire Hossler . . .
Casa St. Claire
Well, the story started to unfold in late 2008 as our namesake, Claire Hossler was approaching what would have been her 88th birthday.

Claire loved living on Coronado Island, just over the bridge from beautiful San Diego, California, but she became very ill between Thanksgiving and Christmas, ultmately passing on December 22nd.

As luck (fate?) would have it, a very cool Spanish style home showed up for sale - listed, as a matter of fact, on Claire's next birthday.
Claire's daughter, Beverly Hossler Burroughs, found the house, made an offer and sped to a closing less than three weeks away. Bev, her son Zack and her boyfriend, Jeff Jakus were all certain that Claire would have loved this elegant 1930's classic.

Bev and Jeff, wanting to provide a living memory of Claire, decided to start a winery - initially in our new Coronado home. To further soldify our branding we researched the name Saint Claire    on the internet and found another amazing coincidence (another 'sign') - there actually was a Saint named Clare (slightly different spelling) and she dedicated her life to the church on the same day we closed escrow - albeit 797 years earlier in the year 1212!!

Construction is ramping up, permits are being pulled and we are hoping for a completed remodel before the end of the summer of 2009.

We expect our first vintage to be in the bottle before the end of the year - using a brand new state of the art technology called the Wine Pod. Check back often for progress on the remodel as well as how we are doing in the winemaking world!
